A small newspaper basket

A small basket made out of newspaper is what I tried making this time. This was simple to make but yes required lots of patience in rolling newspaper tubes over each other. I have painted the basket with acrylic colors. Hope you all liked it.

A quilled ladybird

I tried quilling out a ladybird. It was pretty much easy first quilling the main body and attaching the small quilled head and just had to put some dots on the body with a sketch pen. Ladybirds are suppose to be a good luck symbol in some cultures. So I have my quilled good luck ladybug :)

Quilled earrings peacock feather pattern

This time I tried creating the peacock feather through quilling. I had seen many on the net but was still confused of how to get the perfect peacock feather pattern. I then thought trying it out with some random colors keeping in mind the major colors which the feather reflects. I couldnt get the exact look of a peacock feather but while making out these I got an idea that these colors could create amazing patterns if used wisely. For the time being I am happy that I could create these, thought not exactly similar but I am liking the vibrant colors which I have used. Next time will try to improve on these.

A simple paper bead neck piece made from newspaper

Paper beads are becoming my latest craze, and the more patterns of these beads I get to see on the net the more my hands crave to make them soon. There are several ideas cropping up in my mind regarding the paper beads necklace which i shall be making soon. I am hoping I will be patient enough to sit and make the beads as the process becomes a bit time consuming but since I love making them I have started collecting all sorts of colored papers.

The paper beads of this simple neckpiece have been made from the newspaper (The more glazed version of paper which comes as extra handout). Since I dont have the plastic beads as of now, I wanted them to put alternatively after each paper bead to give a more fresh look. Will buy them soon for my future projects :)

A quilled star pattern

I was trying to learn some different quilling patterns and came across this one. This came out with the usual combing technique, the only difference being that the two petals have been stuck side to side rather than folding them inwards. Will try more of these kind of stars someday. :)

Paper bead bracelet

Since long I was trying to make paper beads and finally I came up with this bracelet . These beads I have prepared from some rough A4 size sheets, and have painted them with nail paint, as am yet to buy some water proof varnish. This fits nicely in my arm and I like the noise that the beads make while wearing or removing the bracelet. They sound like the real beads. :)

Newspaper round loop basket

I came across this kind of basket on net and tried it out for myself. Looks pretty.Could not achieve the exact look but this aint bad, after all some personal touch is always required ;)

This is a good way to recycle the newspapers.

Brown paper bead earrings

My first paper beads task :)

Paper quilled red and black earrings

I used small circling loops to give a different look in these earrings. It was a bit time consuming but i loved the result. I guess these earrings will match a lot of my clothing as black, red and a bit of yellow would along well with most of the clothing.

Paper quilled earrings

I tried making quilled earrings this time. I chose an easy pattern for a first time. I loved the yellow orange combination.

Quilled Flower Keychain 2

This time I finally managed to get the quilling strips. I made this keychain by combing technique.

Quilled flower keychain 1

(Click on the image to enlarge it)

This is my first quilling  :)  . I didnt had the proper quilling strips at this point of time hence I cut them out of newspaper and colored them, tough task it was but since this was the first time I was about to quill, out of excitement it didnt bothered me much. The quilling was easy though and I was satisfied with the pattern it took. I had a spare keychain which I attached to my quilled flower. And here is what it looked like.

I love the colors which I have used here. What do you have to say :)

Paper Snowflake

Folding paper, playing with glue is fun. The major remembrance of how I enjoyed all this would have been the time when we use to get  new books and notebooks for new session during school days and dad use to bring different kinds of paper to cover our books, brown paper being the most common for covering notebooks. I use to enjoy seeing this process. It use to be a fun session for me during the hot summer afternoons. I got to know two processes of covering a book, one was a very simpler one, the other a bit trickier one which would let the cover stay intact even without gluing it or stapling it. Thanks to dad :)  This was more fun to learn.

Later when I was in sixth standard, when the session got over, my class teacher gifted me an Origami book. That was very thrilling to me.I tried out all the origami structures in the book. It use to be a fun activity for me and my brother. How a simple paper can be transformed into a frog, scorpion, flower, star and what not. It was simply spellbounding.  But as the time progressed, all this also got lost in those time lanes. But one day I suddenly came across the same origami and paper stuff somewhere on the net, and I started off. I made this paper snowflake. It looks quite complicated but just requires a few cuts and some glue.

Those who wish to make it at home they can easily find the steps to make this on the internet.

Red Roses :)

Hi,

Thanks for visiting my blog :) This is my first post for my most awaited blog. I had been thinking from quite long of starting a dedicated blog for art and craft, and finally here I am writing this post. It feels amazing to be associated with something close to your heart.

My recent indulgence in craftwork is paper. I remember in school our art and craft teacher taught us how to make some pretty flowers out of organdy cloth.I remember I had made pink flowers and I was thrilled to see once they were made that how closely they resemble the real ones. Hence I thought of recreating the same this time with paper  and opted for making red roses.

I also was thinking of what could be done of the newspaper lying at home, my curiosity landed me up to a tutorial on newspaper basket and quite excited to see it, i tried one too, and it came out beautifully.
